In this tutorial, we will be reviewing the live song selection feature that Releventful has to offer. Live song selection is a fun and interactive process that allows guests at a given event to submit their own song requests to be played. Turn live song selection on at your client’s event and invite guests to participate in the fun by using the shareable link to download the Releventful mobile app and start suggesting songs. Guests can also participate by upvoting the current suggestions in the queue.

You can even create a live song selection experience weeks and months prior to an event in a fun and enjoyable way for your client's friends and family to help them select songs prior to the event date.

To enable live song selection for an event, locate the event and navigate to the event portal within your Releventful account.

Click on the to-dos tab within the portal. Select the “add” prompt in the upper right-hand corner of the expanded menu and select “add live song selection” from the list that appears.

You can also enable live song selection within any existing to dos that have song selection enabled. Instead of creating live song selection as a separate to-do in the client’s portal, you can choose to enable live song selection within a song selection by category to-do item. When live song selection is enabled on an existing to do in the client’s portal, the system will create another category for live song selection.

In my example today, I am creating a separate to do dedicated to live song selection. In the newly created to do for live song selection, this icon here with the music note, indicates that live song selection has been enabled for this to do item.

Proceed to enter a title, body, and due date for this to do.

On the “Song Selection Settings” tab, when live song selection is enabled, there will be a general category bucket of 500 songs available for guests, family, and friends, to begin adding their requests to.

You can allow your client to turn on live song selection on their own. If you are interested in granting your client with this permission, you can toggle on the setting here for “client live song mode permission.”

You can easily add and enable live song selection directly from the mobile app. If you didn’t add live song selection as a to-do prior to the event, and want to add it in the moment while at the event, you can always manage this directly in the mobile app.

Open the event in the mobile app and scroll down to the bottom of the “to do” page. Click on the “view all” button at the bottom of the to do list. On the new page that appears, you will see a button in the bottom right-hand corner that says “live song selection.” Click on this and proceed to enter the name of the live song selection to do.

Once named, the settings for live song selection will appear. Set the setting accordingly and proceed to generate the live song selection.

Once saved, live song selection will be generated for the event and turned on all at once. In the next section of this tutorial, we will proceed to explain how you can share the link for the live song selection to do and even generate a QR code.

Once live song selection is added to the client’s to-do list, you can grab the shareable link from the to-do in both the mobile app or the desktop view to share this link with others and event generate a QR code that can be utilized at the event.

Open the to-do from the client’s portal, select the live song selection from the to-do list.

Edit the to do by clicking on the “edit to do” option in the upper right-hand corner and click on the live song selection icon at the top of the page. Click on the option “get shareable link.” This is the link that can be used at the event and to share with others prior to the event start date.

You can also find the shareable link within the mobile app, as well as create a custom QR code. In the mobile app, click on the “Invite Guests” button at the top of the app on the live song tile.

Once selected, you will see the custom QR code appear. Here you can chose to share the link directly with others, copy the link, or download the QR code with the “Sare QR code” option.

Live song selection can be turned on directly from the mobile app, by you, or by the client if you have granted the client this type of access. In the mobile app, navigate to the event home screen.

Scroll down and click Go Live on the To-Do you wish to activate. Please note that you can only Go Live on one To-Do at a time and the song selection settings for that To-Do will apply.

When live song selection is turned on, you will now see the Live Song Selection display at the top of event Home screen.

We encourage the use of the Releventful mobile application for the optimal experience with live song selection. With the shareable link, guests that access the link will be brought to download the mobile app in either the app store or google play.

This can be done either at the event or prior. With the link, guests can start suggesting songs to be played and even upvote the current suggestions in the que once live song selection is turned on.

Once the app is installed, guests will be automatically logged in without a username or password. Guest accounts are anonymous and they only have access to request songs and vote on other requested songs.

When the guests are in the mobile app, their view will be similar to the view I am showing today.

Guests can begin requesting songs by selecting the “all songs” tab and searching via Spotify or Apple Music for a song to request.

For Android users, they will only see the Spotify option, for Apple users, they can toggle between Spotify or Apple Music to make their selections.

As they search, they can select the suggest button next to any song to add it to the suggestions list.

Over on the suggestions list tab, all song requests from all guests with the shareable link will appear. This page refreshes every 15 seconds to accommodate for new song requests coming through.

Guests can push a song up in the queue by liking it with the thumbs up icon to the far right. The thumbs up icon will be green for the person that suggested this song.

To further manage the settings for live song selection, click the Live Button in the upper right-hand corner of the live song tile with the sound fader icon. Once selected, additional settings will appear to further manage the song suggestions and also limit the number of suggestions.

Make any needed changes and select “update” at the bottom of the app.

At the event, you can have the Releventful suggestions list open next to you to see the trending list and the songs being added and moving up the ranks. As you play songs, tap on them to mark them as played. Once you mark it as played, it will move to the bottom of the list with an indicator noting that it has been played. Tap it again to re-add it to the list if needed.
