Hello and welcome to the DJ add-on tutorial series! Releventful’s DJ add on feature will allow you to build custom event playlists in partnership with your client. The available song selection options will allow you the flexibility to have clients select songs from a set library or allow them to submit song requests by browsing all that Spotify and Apple Music has to offer. From live song selection to clients sharing their own Spotify playlists with you, Releventful’s DJ add-on capabilities will make planning for an event fun and easy.
In this tutorial demonstration, we will start by showing you how your clients will interact with you, through Releventful, to request their songs. We will then move you into the following tutorials to walk you through the setup of these interactions to align your setup with the needs of your business.
We recommend the Releventful mobile app for the optimal experience for your clients during the song selection and event planning process.
When the client opens the mobile app, if the live song selection process has been added to their event and turned on, they will see this at the top of the app listed as “live song selection.” Live song selection can be utilized at their event for their guests to request songs at the event and can also be used for planning with family and friends prior to the event. For more information about the live song selection process, please refer to the live song selection tutorial later in this video series.
The song selection process for identifying songs prior to the event appears as an event to-do and is listed on the homepage of the mobile app under the To-Dos header.
In the example I am showing you today, the client can click on the second to-do in the list that reads, “It’s time to choose your songs” to begin making these selections and requests.
On the new page that appears, this song selection to-do consists of a planning form and a song selection by category assignment for the client to complete. From this view, you will see the questions from the planning form identified under the “Questions” header, and the song selection categories to build their general playlists listed under the “Song Selection” header.
The client can proceed to open these sections of the to-do to expand the task and questions within. In today’s example I will select the “Questions” header to be directed to the questions from the planning form for specific songs at my event.
The form tab will contain any songs identified for specific moments of the event. For example, for a wedding, you might have first dance, father daughter dance, etc. These are the songs that need to be identified by the client for specific moments in the event.
The client can click on the first song request to enter their song choice. Here they can connect directly to their Spotify or Apple Music account or select the “top hits” tab to see suggestions if you have provided them with this option.
On the “song selection” tab, the client can proceed to make selections for the categories you have identified for their overall music playlist for the event. Some examples of categories here would be “must play”, “don’t’ play,” “reception dance songs,” etc.
For these song categories, the client can click on one of the categories and select the “add song” button that appears to add a song choice to this category and begin building their playlist. Again, they can connect directly to their Spotify account, or select the “top hits” tab to see suggestions if you have provided them with this option.
When the client is complete with their song selections, they can select the “Save and Mark as Completed” button at the bottom of the app to notify you that their selections have been made.
Back on the home page of the event in the mobile app, choose between using the timeline tab for a sequence of the order of the event, or choose to incorporate a timeline directly within the to-do menu. When incorporating a timeline within the to-do menu, you and your client can easily see all to-dos and the order of the event all in one simple view.
For more information on setting the song selection process up for your clients, please proceed to watch the next tutorial in this series titled, “Planning Form and Song Selection by Category.”
