Welcome back to our DJ add-on tutorial series! Let’s talk about song selection options. Releventful can sync directly with Spotify to allow for easy song selection and playlist sharing with your clients as you build their song lists for their event.

There is also a song import option if you would like to import your own song library. Importing songs will allow your clients to select music from your list or lock down song selection entirely so they can only choose from your business song list to make their selections.

Song Import

To import your own list, select the settings gear in the left-hand navigation bar in Releventful. Expand the “DJ Settings” menu and select “Song Import.”

Click on the “View Song List Format Requirements” hyperlink for an instructional guide on putting together your list for the upload process. You will need to build out an excel file including the artist, song, album, genre, decade, and any other necessary details.

If you would like to automatically create your Top Hits categories in the Song Manager, simply put the name of the Top Hit category in the Category column.

When your file is ready you can upload it on this page to process the file. The import process will let you know if there are any issues importing your songs and which rows of data the error is generated from.

To locate your imported songs, select the song manager icon from the left-hand navigation bar. Your imported songs will appear under the first tab on this page.

You can create a song manually via the song manager page as well. Click the prompt “add song” at the top of the page and enter in the required information about the song to have it populate in your account.

Top Hits

You have the ability to create and manage your own top hit lists in Releventful. Releventful has a top hits list built into the system that provides over 20 different Top Hits lists ranging from the Most Popular, Top Decades, Top Wedding Songs, and more. However, you can jump in and create your own for your clients to work from.

From the song manager icon on the left-hand navigation bar, select the “top hits” tab at the top of the page.

To create your own top hits list, you will need to make sure that your songs are in the system first in the process we explained in the first portion of this tutorial. Once your songs are in the system, you will see them appear here in the list on this page.

Once your songs are in the system, you can add them to your top hits list, select the plus icon to the left of the song title.

Type the top hit list in the search bar that you would like to add this song to. As you type, the top hit list will appear in the search results. Select the correct list. Select “add” at the bottom of the window to add the song to the identified top hits list.

Once added, close the window with the “close” button at the bottom of the window. Expand the top hit list that you added your song to. You should see your song nested in the correct top hits list.

Turn on the Top Hits playlist by toggling the on option on the right side of the screen.

There is a test event linked under the “try it out” tab at the top of the page. You can use this event to test with. We suggest testing the song selection by planning form and song selection by category process with this test event. To learn more about the testing process, please go back and watch the “Planning Form and Song Selection by Category” tutorial in our DJ add on series.
