When your client is presented with a link to access their Releventful account, either via their own unique event portal URL or by an action within a Releventful email notification, the URL provided to the client is a smart link with a built in workflow to determine if the client should be directed to the mobile application or to a web browser. Your client will be routed to a web browser by default until they have downloaded the mobile app and have been authenticated into their own user account via the downloaded mobile application.
If a client downloads the mobile app and logs in at least one time, the user will be registered within Releventful as a user that utilizes the mobile app. At this point in time, the client will now always be directed to the mobile app experience when accessing their account on a mobile device.
If the client uninstalls the mobile app after already having it installed and having already logged in and been authenticated through the app, Releventful will not know that the client has uninstalled the app from their mobile device. The client will be pushed by the smart link to the app store to proceed to download the application. This occurs because the client is already a registered user on the mobile app and all smart links from the system at this time will direct the client to the mobile app experience instead of a web browser.
Clients will only receive smart links pushing them to the mobile app when they have authenticated their account via the mobile app. Authentication comes with the logging in of the app with the client's email address on file.
Please refer to our Sample Welcome Email article that outlines the steps a client should take to download and utilize the mobile app for their event.
Clients are provided the following steps in the sample welcome email to download the mobile application:
1. Download the Releventful App on the IOS or Google Play store.
2. Enter your email address (the main contact email on file with us)
3. You will be notified to check your email for your event login link
4. You can click the login link in your email on your phone to be automatically logged into the portal on the app
The authentication of the user's account occurs after step 2, when they have entered their email address into the mobile app. From this point forward, all links that are accessed on the mobile device will direct the client to the mobile app. If the app is uninstalled, the user will be directed to the app store to download the app, as they are registered as a user on the app.
