Using the Any Event Portal Template

The Any Event portal template is a useful tool for quickly and easily applying a template or creating a unique, one-of-a-kind design for your events. There are two ways you can utilize this template:

Using the Template for All Events

If you'd like to use the Any Event template for all of your events, click on the top left toggle until it reads "This template will be applied to all events". This choice will automatically be applied to all New Events.

Using the Template for Events Without an Event Type

If you'd like to apply the Any Event template to events that do not have an assigned event type, click on the top left toggle until it reads "This template will be applied to events without an event type". This choice will be automatically applied to all New Events that does not have an event type selected.

Important: Avoiding Duplicate Automations

By default, the Any Event template is configured to apply to all events. This means every event that is created — regardless of event type — will receive the automations set up in the Any Event template.

If you also have automations configured within specific event type templates, be careful not to duplicate them in the Any Event template. Because the Any Event template runs alongside the event type template, both sets of automations will be applied — resulting in duplicate messages, To-Dos, or other automated items being sent to clients.

Best practice: Use the Any Event template for automations that should truly apply to every event (e.g. a review request email after the event). Use specific event type templates for automations that are unique to that event type. Do not add the same automation to both.

What Happens When You Change an Event Type on an Existing Event

When you change the event type on an existing event and save, Releventful will prompt you to apply the portal automations from the new event type. If you select Yes, all automations associated with the destination event type — including any from the Any Event template — will be applied on top of whatever automations are already scheduled for that event.

This can result in duplicate scheduled messages or To-Dos if the new event type shares automations with the Any Event template, or if the event was already running similar automations.

If duplicates occur: Open the event portal and go to Messages → Campaigns to review all scheduled automations. From there you can delete or disable any duplicate messages before they are sent.
