Sharing Documents and Files Through the Portal

Learn how to upload and share documents through the client portal while controlling client access and verifying visibility.

Written by Naomi Sherman

Upload the file to the correct event and choose whether clients may see it. Open the portal to verify access.

Why this matters

A portal template is a reusable starting point for an event type. The event portal is the view for one client. Build the repeatable experience once, then check a sample event to see what the client will actually receive.

Before you start

Check the event type and who should see the portal. An account role with portal editing access may be required.

In Releventful

  1. Open the event portal and click Add document.

  2. Choose the file, set client sharing and save the upload.

  3. Click View Event as Guest > Documents to confirm the file appears; return to its sharing control and Save if it does not.

A useful decision

Check the audience of each message or shared file. An email-only outside recipient can participate in one message without gaining a portal login or the earlier conversation history.

Check the result

Preview the client's portal and verify access. A template edit may need to be applied to an existing event separately.

Important to know

Saving a template does not automatically prove an existing client's portal changed. Review event impact, open the event portal, and inspect the client view before sharing it.
