Stopping Sales Campaigns When a Lead Replies

Learn how to stop automated follow-ups after a lead replies so your sales team can take over with a personal response.

Written by Naomi Sherman

A lead who responds should receive a person's answer, not a generic follow-up written for someone who has been silent.

Before you start

Choose the Sales Campaign you want to update and decide what should happen when a lead replies.

In Releventful

  1. Open Automations & Operations → Manage Campaigns and select the campaign.

  2. Find the Upon Lead Reply (Email or SMS) setting.

  3. Choose Stop this campaign if no additional automated follow-up should be sent after the lead responds.

  4. Save your changes.

A useful decision

If a reply should move the lead into the next part of your sales process, choose Move to a sales stage instead of stopping the campaign.

Select the appropriate Sales Stage so the lead can move into the next workflow or Sales Campaign automatically.

Check the result

Use a sample lead to test the campaign. After the lead replies, open the lead in the Sales Pipeline and review its Activity to confirm the expected campaign or Sales Stage change occurred.

Important to know

Changes to reply handling can affect leads and events that are already actively enrolled in the campaign, as well as new leads moving forward.
