If you utilize The Knot and Wedding Wire for lead generation, Releventful offers a simple email forwarding process to feed all leads from these two platforms directly into your Releventful account. By setting up this automated workflow, all of your leads from The Knot and Wedding Wire will seamlessly appear within your Releventful account just as leads from your website lead form do.

What This Integration Does (and Does Not Do)

Releventful’s WeddingWire and The Knot integration is designed to capture new inquiries and ensure that no lead is missed. The primary function of this integration is to forward the initial inquiry submitted through WeddingWire or The Knot into Releventful as a new lead.

Once the initial inquiry is captured, you can choose how you want to continue the conversation. Follow-up communication can take place either within WeddingWire or The Knot, or directly through Releventful.

Due to limitations set by WeddingWire and The Knot, ongoing messages that continue within their platforms cannot be tracked or synced into Releventful. These platforms do not provide a native messaging integration, which is why Releventful uses a secure email-forwarding approach to capture the initial inquiry only.

This setup ensures reliable lead capture while respecting the boundaries of what WeddingWire and The Knot make available to third-party systems.

How it works

Once the workflow is configured for your account, the process will forward your new lead inquiry emails from The Knot and Wedding Wire to Releventful. Releventful will read the forwarded email and process the details as a new lead. The lead will be placed within your account as a new inquiry notification via the notification bell.

💡Pro Tip: If the auto-approve new leads setting is enabled in your account, the new leads will automatically appear on the sales pipeline and won't need to be qualified first.

The Knot and Wedding Wire configuration requires you to set up email forwarding rules in your email client (Gmail, Outlook, etc.). To setup your email inbox to properly forward The Knot and Wedding Wire lead emails, utilize the instructional guide below.

Once the initial inquiry email is forwarded and processed, Releventful creates a new lead using the information provided by WeddingWire or The Knot. This includes the lead’s contact details and their original message.

Any communication that happens after this initial inquiry, if continued directly inside WeddingWire or The Knot, will remain within those platforms and will not appear in Releventful. This is expected behavior and is due to platform limitations outside of Releventful’s control.

Following Up With Leads

After a lead is created in Releventful, you have flexibility in how you respond.

You may choose to:

  • Reply to the lead directly within WeddingWire or The Knot

  • Respond through Releventful and manage the conversation there

If you continue the conversation inside Releventful, all future communication will be tracked within the platform. If you continue the conversation inside WeddingWire or The Knot, those messages will remain visible only within those systems.

Many customers choose to reply once within WeddingWire or The Knot and then move the conversation into Releventful for long-term tracking and event management.

Step #1: Locate the forwarding link within Releventful

Before creating the email forwarding criteria within your email client, start by locating your unique forwarding address via your Releventful account with the following steps:

  1. Select the settings gear at the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar.

  2. Select Sales Settings and proceed to select WW & The Knot from the submenu.

  3. On the new page that appears, the custom email forwarding link will be listed. Copy this link with the copy option to the right of the field. Save this link for the email provider steps outlined below.

  4. To associate all leads from The Knot and Wedding Wire to a specific business brand and event type, set these accordingly within the fields below.

Step #2: Create email forwarding rules within email client

After obtaining the forwarding link from Releventful, proceed to create the email forwarding rules within your email client. This process will instruct the email engine to forward emails only from The Knot and Wedding Wire to Releventful. Listed below are instructions for Gmail, Outlook and Apple iCloud. Locate the instructions for the email client you utilize and follow the outlined steps to complete the setup.

Gmail Setup Instructions

To begin forwarding The Knot and Wedding Wire leads from Gmail to Releventful, follow the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Add Releventful Forwarding Address

1. Login to your Gmail account.

2. Select the settings gear in the upper right-hand corner of Gmail.

3. Select See all settings from the menu that appears.

4. Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

5. At the top of the page, under the Forwarding section, select the button for Add Forwarding Address.

6. Paste the link from your Releventful account into this field. You would have obtained this link when following the instructions for locating your link above.

7. Once the link is pasted into this field, select Next within Gmail in the pop-up window.

8. A new pop-up window will appear and ask you to verify yourself. Follow the steps to verify your account and begin the connection.

9. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address of the Releventful account owner to finalize the forward account verification. Locate this email and complete the verification process by following the outlined steps. Once this is completed, the email will be registered.

Step 2: Forwarding and POP/IMAP Forwarding Setting

ℹ️ Important: Do not select email forwarding on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. This setting must remain as disabled or all of your mail will be forwarded to Releventful and your email forwarding for your account will be disabled until our team can verify you have configured forwarding correctly.

Step 3: Create the Wedding Wire and The Knot Filters

1. After the email is confirmed and registered, select the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab in Gmail (next to Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab).

2. Select Create a new filter on this page.

3. In the From field, add the following email domain: weddingwire.com

4. Select Create Filter at the bottom of the dialog box.

5. In the next dialog screen that appears, select the checkbox Forward it to.

6. In the drop-down list alongside this setting you will see the Releventful link that you confirmed and registered in the earlier steps. Select this option from the drop down menu.

7. Select the Create Filter button at the bottom of the dialog box.

8. Repeat steps #10 through #16, but now enter in the email domain: member.theknot.com

Once your filters are configured, it will look like this

Repeat this process for the following other two email domains:

theknot.com

partner.theknot.com

Outlook Setup Instructions

To begin forwarding The Knot and Wedding Wire leads from Outlook to Releventful, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Login to Outlook.

  2. Select the File tab at the top left-hand corner of the application.

  3. Ensure that the Info menu option is selected on the new page that appears.

  4. Select Manage Rules & Alerts from the available tiles.

  5. From the Email Rules tab that appears in the pop-up window, select the New Rule option.

  6. Select Apply rule on messages I receive under the blank rules section and select Next at the bottom of the page.

  7. Check the box for with specific words in the sender's address.

  8. Once the checkbox is selected, select the hyperlink in Step 2 and enter the following domains:

    weddingwire.com

    member.theknot.com

    theknot.com

    partner.theknot.com

  9. Select Next at the bottom of the pop-up window.

  10. On the new list that appears, select the checkbox for Forward it to People or Public Group and select the hyperlink for the rule description at the bottom of the page.

  11. Paste the email link from Releventful into the To field at the bottom of the window. You would have obtained this link when following the instructions for locating your link above.

  12. Select Ok and Next to proceed to the end of the setup. On the last page of the pop-up window, review your rules and select Finish.

Apple iCloud Setup Instructions

To begin forwarding The Knot and Wedding Wire leads from Apple iCloud to Releventful, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to icloud.com/mail and sign into your Apple Account.

  2. Click on the settings gear at the top of the Mailboxes list and choose Settings.

  3. Click Rules and click on the plus sign in the top right-hand corner.

  4. Enter a name for the new rule.

  5. Below message, use the pop-up menu and text field to specify the type of emails you want to filter. Here you can search for the following email domains:

    weddingwire.com

    member.theknot.com

    theknot.com

    partner.theknot.com

  6. Below Action, use the pop-up menu or field to specify an action for the rule.

  7. Select Mail Forwarding.

  8. Select Forward my email to, and paste the the forwarding address from Releventful into the text field. You would have obtained this link when following the instructions for locating your link above.

General FAQ

Are there certain requirements for the new lead to be generated from The Knot and Wedding Wire emails?

It is essential that the email from The Knot and/or Wedding Wire includes a first name and an email address for the new lead. If either the name or email address is missing, the email will be discarded and will not be added to your Releventful account.

What information from The Knot and Wedding Wire new lead emails come through into Releventful?

The information listed within the Event Details portion of the emails will make it into Releventful. If you have feedback around the data being sent to Releventful within this section, please let us know.

Do messages from WeddingWire or The Knot appear in Releventful?

The initial message submitted with the inquiry on WeddingWire or The Knot will appear in Releventful and is stored with the lead details.

Messages sent after the initial inquiry, if they occur within WeddingWire or The Knot, will not be visible in Releventful. These platforms do not provide access to ongoing message threads through a native integration.

To track all future communication in one place, follow-up messages should be sent through Releventful after the lead is created.

If the lead provides more than one email address, which one comes through to Releventful?
The primary email address is the only email that will come through with the lead details into Releventful.

I received an email but why wasn't lead created?

Releventful requires that the emails sent from Wedding Wire or The Knot contain at a lead name and email address for leads to be created. If either of those are missing the lead cannot be created.
