Releventful's Stripe integration enables you to offer credit card and ACH payment options to your clients. If you are taking advantage of Stripe Payment Management, you can offer even further payment options like Affirm and After Pay.

This article will describe the payment methods and the processing time for each type.

Synchronous (Immediate)

Credit and debit card transactions are immediately processed within the Stripe integration. If there is an error from the card details the client provides, the error is presented immediately to the client. They can choose to correct the details provided to fully process their transaction in real time.

Asynchronous (Not Immediate)

There are certain transaction types within Releventful that are asynchronous and not immediate. These payments can sit in a processing status for about 2-3 day's time. There are many types of payments which fall into this category, for example

  • Buy Now / Pay Later Options (Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna)

  • 3D Verification Payments

  • ACH Payments or Connecting to a Bank Institution

When a customer picks an asynchronous payment method, Releventful will mark the payment as processing until Stripe communicates that the payment has been processed successfully.

Failed Asynchronous Payments

If one of these transactions fails, a notification will appear in the notification menu within your Releventful account informing you of this failure.

Incomplete Asynchronous Payments

If the client stops in the middle of entering their payment information and doesn't finish, you will see an 'incomplete' status in Stripe and a 'processing' status within Releventful until the client finishes the transaction. When the client is ready, they can go back into Releventful and finish their transaction by selecting the pay button on their invoice.

If a client's payment is processing and their funds are being verified by Stripe, the client will not be able to make any changes to the payment. Once the payment transaction is complete, the payment will be updated according to the success or failure as provided by Stripe.
