Hello and welcome back to the DJ add on tutorial series. In this tutorial we will review how to scan the client’s song selection against your own music and how to export the final playlist for their event.

Once your clients' song selections have been made, you can use our playlist management tool to create and download the event playlist.

Find your client’s playlist selections for a given event within their event portal. Locate the event by searching for it via the search magnifying glass, or by opening it from the sales pipeline or event calendar. Once located, navigate to the portal for the event.

Select the “playlist” tab on the portal to open the song selections that the client has made.

The event playlist management section within the event portal is where you can pull together your client’s song selections and your song selections to create your final day-of playlist to download.

Click on the “client selections” icon to view the songs the clients have selected in the planning process.

If the client added any notes to their song selections, you can see them in the notes column, alongside the category that they placed this song within.

When selecting the event playlist button, you will see the primary list of songs to be played at the event.

If you want to add additional songs to the event playlist, click on the “explore” button and search for songs.

Check the “add to event playlist” checkbox for songs that you want to pull over into the event playlist selection of songs.

On the event playlist display, you can add a scheduled time and additional notes to each of the songs in the event playlist. Select the edit pencil for a song to make these adjustments.

Drag and drop songs in the list to create the desired order.

The Releventful Remix Song Scanner

Creating playlists manually can be time consuming for your events. Releventful has an available REMIX® Song Scanner which will save you time in preparing for your events and reduce the amount of time you spend creating your playlists.

The REMIX scanner is designed to scan your song library to gather all the song names and file paths in your song repository. The REMIX service will automatically match your client’s song selections to the songs you have in your song repository. Once scanned, the remix scanner will create your M3U playlist files to use in your tool of choice.

The REMIX scanner will NOT scan any other directory other than the one you provide. The scanner will also NOT take any files off of your computer.

To scan your song library for the first time, click on the playlist button at the top of the portal screen that we have been reviewing in this tutorial. Select “download remix scanner” in the drop-down that appears.

Once selected, the download will start automatically, and further instructions will be displayed on the screen. The Remix Song Scanner is an application outside of Releventful that will be downloaded and stored on your computer for future playlist downloads and scans.

To scan your music, open the Remix song scanner, enter your username and password and click on the “connect” button.

Select “Music Directory” to choose the directory with all of your stored music. When you are ready, click “Scan” to scan your music.

After you have run the REMIX® Song Scanner all songs added to the Event Playlist will be automatically matched. Let’s take a closer look at how the matching process works.

When you have scanned your music against the client’s song selections, your playlist will look similar to the view I am displaying here today.

For songs that have a green checkmark to the left-hand side of their title, these are exact matches that have been confirmed against your music repository.

When you select the edit pencil for a song with a green checkmark, you will see the REMIX details listed at the top of the page indicating a match has been made. You will then see the song name below as well as the file location for your matching song file.

You can proceed to edit the details of this song by setting a schedule time and adding any additional notes within this page.

You can drag and drop songs into the desired order directly on this page.

The yellow icons indicate partial matches. Edit these songs to correct the matching for the song. On my screen, you will see the song “catch a wave” by the beach boys, but the incorrect song was brought in as a partial match under “song name.”

To correct the song match, search your music library with the search bar available in the middle of the page. Locate the correct song in the search results list that appears and select it from the list.

Once selected, the song that was originally found will be replaced with your new selection and the song will now reflect a green checkmark showing the song has a match. Select "confirm match" at the top to confirm match.

When a partial match is corrected in the system, the REMIX scanner will remember this match for all future scans. The more matching that is done, the more the system learns how to appropriately match the client selections to your song library.

Exporting the Playlist

When your songs have been matched, you can proceed to export the playlist for the event. Select the “playlist” button at the top left-hand corner of the page. In this drop-down, you have a few options for exporting. To export the M3U playlist, select the “download playlist” option.

The M3U playlist export is the standard playlist format that all major music production software supports including, but not limited to Serato, iTunes, Traktor, Virtual DJ, & more.

You can also download a CSV file of your playlist with the “download playlist CSV” option.

The CSV download will not require matching to be done. This export will be a list of the songs in the event playlist and can be used with other tools that support CSV uploads for playlist songs.

If you have more than one DJ utilizing the playlist song selections, utilize the “viewing as” drop down list in the upper right-hand corner to download the M3U playlist for that specific team member identified against that user’s music files. For this to work properly, each member of the team in this drop-down list needs to download the REMIX song scanner onto their own device against their own music files.

This can be beneficial if you have an admin that exports the playlist for various DJs on the team. The admin can download the M3U playlist file specific for the DJ with the drop-down menu for song matches against their physical computer and what they have installed.

We hope that this tutorial has been helpful in explaining the REMIX song scanner and how to download event playlists. This tutorial concludes our DJ add-on tutorial series. Please make sure to visit help.releventful.com for more helpful resources and additional tutorials.
