Service charges can be applied to eligible items on an invoice based on the rules you configure.
Why this matters
Setting up your service charge correctly helps ensure the appropriate charge is consistently calculated and clearly displayed to your clients.
Before you start
Know the service charge percentage or amount you want to apply and which items or services should be subject to the charge.
In Releventful
Open the appropriate Invoice Settings and locate your service charge settings.
Enter the service charge and select the items or conditions where it should apply.
Click Save.
Create or open a sample invoice and add an item that should receive the service charge.
Review the invoice to confirm that the service charge and total are calculated as expected.
Check the result
Confirm that the service charge appears correctly on the sample invoice and is only applied to the intended items before using the configuration with clients.
Important to know
A service charge is different from a convenience or payment processing fee. Service charges are part of your invoice pricing, while convenience fees may depend on the client's selected payment method.
If you change your service charge settings, review existing client invoices separately to confirm whether they need to be updated.
