Setting Up Tax Types

Learn how to review and update existing tax types and percentages in Releventful, then verify that taxes calculate correctly on client invoices.

Written by Naomi Sherman

Tax Types controls the rates applied to taxable items. Review the existing types and their percentages before using them on an invoice; the current Tax Types screen does not expose an Add button for a new type.

Why this matters

Catalog items make pricing easier to reuse. Set each item's contents, tax treatment, and price clearly, then check a sample proposal or invoice before offering it to a client.

Before you start

Know the intended price and tax treatment before changing a catalog item used on future invoices.

In Releventful

  1. Click Settings > Business Setup > Tax Setup to open Tax Types.

  2. For an existing type, click Edit, change Name or Tax Percentage, then click Save. The current Tax Types screen has no Add button for a new type.

  3. Add a taxable item to a sample invoice and check the calculated tax line.

A useful decision

Releventful calculates invoice tax from the configured tax type and item settings. Check a sample invoice and its accounting mapping so the same tax is not added again after a sync.

Check the result

Add the item to a sample invoice and inspect the total before using the new pricing with a client.

Important to know

A catalog price change is for future use; review a price already quoted on an existing event separately. Check tax and service charges on the client document.
