Creating Payment Schedules

Learn how to create payment schedules with installment amounts or percentages, due dates, and terms that align with your client’s invoice and contract.

Written by Naomi Sherman

Build the schedule with each amount or percentage and due date. Check that percentage payments total 100 percent.

Why this matters

The event invoice brings together what the client owes, what was requested, and what was received. Review the balance and provider result before changing a schedule, recording a payment, or promising a refund.

Before you start

Open the correct event and invoice. Confirm the existing balance and any recorded payments.

In Releventful

  1. Click Billing & Sales > Manage Payment Schedules and choose Create Schedule.

  2. Name the schedule, add each installment and enter its amount or percentage and due date.

  3. Check that percentage payments total 100 percent, then click Create Schedule or Save; reopen it to confirm amounts and dates.

How to make the most of this step

Choose payment amounts or percentages and due dates that agree with the contract. Percentage-based payments must add up to the full invoice. Preview the schedule on a sample invoice before using it for a client, especially when dates depend on the event date or booking date.

A useful decision

Due dates and amounts should match the accepted terms. Review an invoice with existing payments individually; applying a new schedule must not ask the client for money already received.

Check the result

Review the updated invoice, payment schedule, and client balance. Confirm live payment or refund results with the provider.

Important to know

Editing an invoice record is different from collecting or returning money. Confirm online payment or refund results with the configured provider.
