Creating and Managing Planning Forms

Learn how to create and test planning forms that collect the information your team needs from clients throughout the planning process.

Written by Naomi Sherman

Build planning forms with only the questions the team needs. Test the form as a client and review where the answers appear.

Why this matters

A portal template is a reusable starting point for an event type. The event portal is the view for one client. Build the repeatable experience once, then check a sample event to see what the client will actually receive.

Before you start

Check the event type and who should see the portal. An account role with portal editing access may be required.

In Releventful

  1. Click Automations & Operations > Manage Planning Forms and click Add Form Template.

  2. Name the form, click Add Form Item for each question and mark only essential fields as required; click Save in the top toolbar.

  3. Attach the form to a sample client To-Do, then use Preview To-Do as Guest to test the questions.

A useful decision

A form gathers answers; a To-Do asks a person to complete it by a date. Test the form attached to the event To-Do, including required questions and reminders, rather than checking only the reusable template.

Check the result

Preview the client's portal and verify access. A template edit may need to be applied to an existing event separately.

Important to know

Saving a template does not automatically prove an existing client's portal changed. Review event impact, open the event portal, and inspect the client view before sharing it.
