In this tutorial, we will review the creation and setup of a default event timeline within the portal templates. As a reminder, the event timeline created within this specific event type’s portal template will only apply to events in that same designated event type. For example, I will place a default wedding timeline in the wedding template.

To add a default timeline to your event type, select the “add” prompt underneath the event timeline section. Here you can build out the default timeline that will display for all events in this event type. As a reminder, the timeline will be stored in the timeline section of the client’s event portal.

One example that we suggest is creating a default timeline with a sequence of events that can be applied to all clients across the board for this type of event. You can keep the time section on the far-left column blank and update this per event as the timeline is applied. This way, you do not have to create a timeline from scratch for each event, but only update the times that the activities are occurring during the event.

To add additional line items to the timeline, select the plus symbol at the bottom of the page. Or, for quick edits, type in your timeline in one row and press the tab button on your keyboard to have the next row automatically added. To remove or re-order the timeline, click the list button here in the top right hand side.

Set the toggle to “on” when you are ready to apply this to the event type. In the same way as the portal to-do’s, you can change when this is added to events with the “change portal templates” settings nested within the three dots in the middle of the page and select “change portal template settings”. You can change when the timeline is applied to your event type with the first available drop-down.

We hope that this tutorial was helpful in explaining the event timeline option within portal templates. For additional tutorials about the other sections of step 3 within portal templates, please refer to these at help.releventful.com.
